Parent Success Story

Meet Rose! Rose is a Family Resource & Referral Center client, a single Mom, using our child care assistance program. She is an administrative assistant at a local stone company, and was deemed “essential” during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rose recently shared with us what having child care assistance has meant to her and her daughter:

“Child Care has definitely, definitely helped! I could not have done this any other way-day care is expensive. I was on the Welfare-to-Work program where I found part-time work and, shortly after, I found a job that was offering me full-time hours. FRRC helped me in making sure that I had the care for my daughter as I went from a part-time employee to working full-time. I just celebrated my 3-year anniversary at my job, and I could not have done this without the peace-of-mind knowing that the teachers and staff treated my daughter like family at her child care. During COVID-19, I was deemed an essential employee. My caseworker was always very knowledgeable and available to help answer all of my questions about my child care needs, which was very reassuring.

My daughter was 2 years old when I first took her to Preschool, and now she’s 5. Her social skills improved, and she’s ready for kindergarten.  I’m a huge fan of what this program can do for single Moms who need a little extra help. I recently referred my sister to you since she was in a similar situation as me. Now my niece is being well cared for while my sister goes to work. It’s a great program, and I’m thankful for this help for my family and me.”
