(Stockton, CA) The Joan Richards Learning Village Preschool, owned and operated by Family Resource Center, has received the highest possible recognition from Quality Counts California’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS)-a Tier 5 rating. The QRIS tiered rating structure evaluates levels of quality and monitors and evaluates the impacts on child outcomes.
The California State Preschool Program (CSPP) at the Joan Richards Learning Village is administered by the California State Department of Education, Early Learning and Care Division. The programs offered at the Joan Richards Learning Village Preschool are designed to meet individual and developmental needs of children and support the goals of each family while maintaining a standard of high-quality early childhood education. Chief Compliance Officer, Gabrielle Dehoff stated, “There is a strong commitment from our dedicated teachers and staff to build a solid foundation so that our students receive quality early care and are best prepared to enter kindergarten.”
According to Quality Counts California, children who attend a quality learning and care program are more likely to do well in school and less likely to drop out or need remedial support later in life. In operation since 2015, the Joan Richards Learning Village has provided a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children learn at their own pace. “Earning this quality benchmark is a testament to our agency’s dedication to children and families,” adds Dehoff. “The Tier 5 rating means that we are meeting rigorous standards and that the children are receiving developmentally appropriate care and instruction.”
The Preschool promotes critical thinking skills needed for school success with an emphasis on positive social-emotional development and family involvement. Open year-round, the part-day Preschool program (named after the founder of Family Resource Center, Joan Richards) serves children aged 3-5 years-old and is currently enrolling income- eligible families.
