211 Success Story

What do you do when you know you’re being wrongfully evicted? Call 211. Our Call Specialist recently guided a client who explained that her family’s income was negatively impacted by the pandemic, and that her landlord was not only harassing her, but also serving her with a 15-day notice to pay or quit, despite the caller already applying for Emergency Rent Payment Assistance programs.

Our 211 Call Specialist was able to guide her to legal assistance, information on landlord-tenant mediation, and Fair Housing resources after learning about the caller’s experience with the landlord and her family’s situation. Not only was 211 able to empower the caller with resources to ensure her family would not be wrongfully evicted, the caller was also in need of food resources. Our 211 Call Specialist was able to provide her with information to a Community Center near by that provided food, and also transferred her to DoorDash food delivery so that she could receive deliveries of food from the Emergency Food Bank.

211 followed up with this caller 3 times after the initial call was made to ensure that she was able to access the resources and referrals provided. 211 San Joaquin is your local guide who understands you and your community. When you contact 211, you’re connected to a highly trained and compassionate local expert who can help you access the best local resources.
