Working Alongside Our Child Care Providers

We recently formed a partnership with San Joaquin Delta College to offer an apprenticeship for Family Child Care Home Providers. The Family Child Care Apprenticeship Program is an ‘earn & learn’ program which will allow our student cohort (current licensed Family Child Care Home Providers) to earn their Associate Teacher’s Permit at the completion of the 2-year coursework.

The program is designed to increase the quality of care provided to children in a Family Child Care Home setting. The cohort of students began their courses a few weeks ago, and are meeting virtually at this time. In addition to paid tuition for college coursework and paid wages for on-the-job training, the participants receive continuous coaching and support from FRRC’s Community Resource Specialists.

Those who earn their Associate Teacher’s Permit will have access to career ladder advancement opportunities and continue to have a peer support group-all which is important in boosting the child care supply in San Joaquin County.
