Paying for Care

Concerned with child care costs? Help is available.

Financial assistance to cover all or part of the cost of preschool/child care is offered for qualifying families. Eligibility is based on income level and family size, and immigration status is not part of the application. Funding is limited; applying does not automatically guarantee services.

NEW! Our eligibility list application platform has changed to a new platform, CareWait.

(The process to apply for subsidized childcare through the eligibility waiting list remains the same)

What you should know…

If you have not applied for subsidized child care before, you will need to first create an account. The process is easy and if you need help, the Support Chat feature is available to help guide you through.

Existing families who already have an application do not have to reapply. You should receive an email and/or SMS text with an invitation to create an account to access your application.

You may use the Support Chat feature should you have any problems logging in or creating your account. Please contact our CEL team at 209-461-2910 should you have any questions regarding your application.

CLICK HERE to go to the CareWait website.

The Alternative Payment Program (APP) or Voucher Program (VP) also provide assistance for eligible families to select their own child care provider. In this program, Family Resource Center pays the cost of child care up to the regional market rate ceilings allowed by our funders. Parents may have a co-payment if they select a provider that charges more than Family Resource Center can pay.

To Apply

Contact Family Resource Center’s team at (209) 948-1553 for an application, or complete an online application and return it to Family Resource Center.

Enrolled Families

Parents who are enrolled in Family Resource Center’s programs and services are connected with an individual case worker who will confirm need and eligibility, discuss child care needs and answer any additional questions you may have about our preschool and subsidized child care programs.

Did you know you may be eligible* to receive child care for the following activities?

  • Working
  • Looking for work
  • In school or job training
  • Homeless or seeking permanent housing
  • Medically incapacitated
  • Receiving Child Protective Services (CPS) or At-Risk referral
  • Participating in Welfare-to-Work Activities (select programs only)

Additionally, as an enrolled parent, you have free access to Family Resource Center’s Resource Center.

*participation in any of the listed activities does not automatically deem eligibility for the APP program. Eligibity is based on need and assessment.
