Parent Success Story

Meet Michele! Michele is a single Mom of 3 children, working full time, and credits her support team and the flexibility of the child care assistance program at FRRC in helping Michelle keep all the balls in the air. Michelle recently spoke to us about her unique FRRC experiences, and shares her advice to all Moms.

“As a Mom of 3 children, 2 of which have special needs, it was the flexibility of FRRC’s services that allowed me to select the best caregiver for my children at different stages of their lives. The program authorized me to choose my Mom as my son’s caregiver-keeping my son at home in his personal setting when other agencies would come to our house to help him reach developmental milestones. This was so helpful since I know having set routines at home allowed my son to feel safe, but also allowed him to feel comfortable with those helping him progress developmentally.

FRRC also gave me parental choice when the time came for me to find care for my daughter. I wanted to send her to a Preschool that I knew would help get her ready for kindergarten, and where she would be treated like family. FRRC allowed me to select a Preschool that I kept hearing great things about. My daughter loved her Preschool and teachers, and they were an added part of my support team. They kept me regularly informed of my daughter’s activities, and my daughter really did have a leg up when she started kindergarten.

Between my Mom, the caring individuals who helped my children blossom, and the team at FRRC, I really did have an emotional support system in place. I’m a bit sad that my children are getting older and soon will be graduating from the FRRC child care program. FRRC was so positive from the beginning and I really had no trouble finding care, even with my varying work schedule. I would tell other Moms in a similar situation to reach out to FRRC. They’re not a rigid program. Once you reach out and open yourself up to help, it will make your life better. They can also point you to other resources needed for your family. Do it for yourself and for your kids.”
