FRRC’s 6th Annual Adopt-a-Family Event-Making Spirits Bright

For Immediate Release

Community Comes Together to Support Family Resource & Referral Center’s 6th Annual ‘Adopt-a-Family’ Event.

Local businesses and community organizations support the nonprofit’s 6th annual ‘Adopt-a-Family’ event for families in need this Holiday season.

Date: December 28, 2022

Location: Family Resource & Referral Center 509 W. Weber Ave. Stockton, CA 95203

Stockton, CA (December 28, 2022) Family Resource & Referral Center (FRRC) distributed over 200 gifts to children last week through funding from various businesses and community partners. This is the 6thyear in a row, in which the agency that provides family strengthening services, was able to take part in seasonal giving to families in need. “We want to thank our partners, Health Net, LLC, Balance Staffing, the San Joaquin County Department of Child Support Services, PetSmart, PACE Supply Corp., C&S Grocers, Inc., and Barnes & Noble Stockton for their generosity in helping families enjoy the season,” says Tiffany Phovixay, Chief Operating Officer for FRRC.

Children received personalized wrapped presents, a brand-new age-appropriate toy, book, and a stuffed animal. For many families, especially those who are facing homelessness and financial burden, the holidays can be an extremely difficult time. Families who dialed 2-1-1 for holiday support were also connected to other community resources and programs such as food pantries, warming centers, and utility payment assistance programs, as needed.

The Stockton-San Joaquin County Lion’s Club also provided volunteers to help wrap gifts, helping us make the season bright. Additionally, anonymous donors provided generous contributions to support the agency in its seasonal giving. “The community’s effort and compassion illustrates the true meaning of the Holiday season,” says Rebecca Ray, Director of Community Relations & Development. “We want to share our sincere thanks to so many who made seasonal giving possible.”

About Family Resource Center:

Family Resource Center is committed to the health and well-being of children in San Joaquin County, and the adults who care for them. Serving the community since 1980, our mission is to provide resources to parents and childcare providers to encourage healthy growth for the children in their care. We do that by providing advocacy, information, education, nutritional support, training, and childcare services –directly and by financially supporting community childcare providers –so that every child, and parent, has access to safe and stimulating care outside the home. Through the provision of the county’s 2-1-1 system, housed and administered by Family Resource Services, we offer new and current residents referral and access to information about child care, nutritional services and other programs available in San Joaquin County that support broader community health.
