CalWORKs Program

Subsidized Child Care Programs

Stage 1: The Human Services Agency (HSA) has Stage 1 child care funds available as a support service for clients on TANF (Cash Aid). FRC administers the child care services through a sub-contract with HSA. Parents are able to select the child care that best meets their needs.

Stage 2: The Stage 2 child care program provides funds for current and former TANF recipients who are participating in a county-approved job-related activity. Stage 1 families are transitioned into Stage 2. Once a family stops receiving TANF (Cash Aid), the family is limited to 24 months of child care in Stage 2. Parents are able to select the child care that best meets their needs.

Stage 3: The Stage 3 child care program provides funds for current and former TANF (Cash Aid) recipients who are participating in a county-approved job-related activity. Stage 2 families are transitioned into Stage 3 as positions are available. Parents are able to select the child care that best meets their needs.
