Meet one of our Family Resource Center clients, a single mom utilizing our child care assistance program. She works as an administrative assistant at a local stone company. She recently shared with us what having child care assistance has meant to her and her daughter:
“Child care has definitely, definitely helped! I could not have done this any other way—day care is expensive. I was on the Welfare-to-Work program where I found part-time work and, shortly after, I found a job that offered me full-time hours. The Family Resource Center helped ensure that I had care for my daughter as I transitioned from part-time to full-time employment. I just celebrated my 3-year anniversary at my job, and I could not have done this without the peace of mind knowing that the teachers and staff treated my daughter like family at her child care center.
My caseworker was always very knowledgeable and available to answer all of my questions about my child care needs, which was very reassuring. My daughter was 2 years old when I first took her to preschool, and now she’s 5. Her social skills have improved, and she’s ready for kindergarten. I’m a huge fan of what this program can do for single moms who need a little extra help. I recently referred my sister to you since she was in a similar situation as me. Now, my niece is being well cared for while my sister goes to work. It’s a great program, and I’m thankful for this help for my family and me.”
