Our 211 Information & Referral Call Specialist was recently given the nick name, “Resource Angel” from a senior who was needing assistance in accessing food resources. Our senior caller had placed an order for a specialized food program to drop-off food to her doorstep, yet the caller did not receive her food, and needed help. She turned to 211, and our Call Specialist found several food banks, programs, and community centers within a 2-mile radius of the caller’s house. Because of 211’s centralized database of resources, our Call Specialist was able to identify which programs were able to deliver the food to our elderly caller, and which programs she would need to drive to in order to pick-up the food. Our 211 Call Specialist was even able to help our senior caller apply for an automated food delivery program for scheduled contactless deliveries for the future. Our senior expressed how grateful she was to our Call Specialist and said that she reminded her of a friend with a similar name who was very resourceful when it came to her family in need of resources. The caller then told our Call Specialist she was indeed a “Resource Angel!”
